Eugene Darkroom Group collaborates with the Maude Kerns Art Center (MKAC) to provide classes through their education program in a variety of photography related areas. See our list of course offerings below. Scholarships are available! (Email us for info.)

WEEKEND WORKSHOP - $175

BLACK & WHITE FILM AND DARKROOM PROCESSES
Join us for a weekend workshop to learn (or refresh) all the skills you need to shoot, develop, and print with analog black & white photography. After taking this workshop, you will be ready to join Eugene Darkroom Group and use our facilities, or take your skills and work on your own!
The workshop is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 20th and 21st:
Saturday:
9 to 11AM: Basics of manual camera function and shooting on black & white 35mm film.
11AM to 12PM:Take an outdoor photowalk to shoot a short roll of film (10 to 12 exposures).
12 to 2PM: Develop the roll you just shot!
Sunday:
9AM to 1PM: Basics of darkroom printing: Make a contact sheet showing all your images; then choose one or two images to enlarge onto 5x7 inch photopaper.
1 to 2PM (optional): Your chance to become a member! We will review our member agreements and payment requirements, and sign you up!
Bring a film camera with you; all other materials will be provided. Ideally, the camera should allow manual controls, but even a point-and-shoot is fine! (If you need to borrow a camera, please let us know by email after you register.)
This workshop is limited to only 2 participants, so get a spot while you can!

MANUAL CAMERA FUNCTION & SHOOTING BASICS - $60

This class is for those who are interested in working in a darkroom, but are unfamiliar with shooting film. The instructor will guide you through the basics of manual camera function and shooting on black & white 35mm film to prepare you for the work in the darkroom. Bring your own camera or let us know if you need to use one of ours! (Limited quantity of cameras available).

FILM PROCESSING FOR BEGINNERS - $60
This flexible and customizable course is designed for beginners with limited previous experience processing their own black and white film (35mm or 120 format). The instructor will guide you through all of the intricacies of developing your own film. Bring an undeveloped roll of black and white film (that you have already shot) with you, and we’ll provide equipment and chemistry!

DARKROOM PRINTING FOR BEGINNERS - $60

Darkroom Printing: This class is designed for beginners with limited previous experience making black and white prints in a darkroom. The instructor will guide you through the basics of darkroom printing. Bring a developed roll of black and white film with you and we’ll provide everything you need to make your prints!
